Art From Videos and Websites that Inspired Me

Sosolimited, Set Top Box

This is a TV that is playing daytime television, while the subtitles are being processed, analyzed, and projected on the wall.

My idea based on this piece:

A TV is showing a muted soap opera, while the subtitles being projected on the wall are from cooking shows. That way it looks like the characters on the soap opera are arguing about cooking.

Christopher Boyle, Identity Guidelines

Boyle made this piece with the idea of "branding" himself, the same way a company might brand a product.

My idea based on this piece:

I want to make a prototype for the packaging of a product that is me. If you buy a product at a store that comes in a box, there is a picture of the product on the box and information about the product. I would get a box that is tall as I am and then design packaging that displays a picture of me and what I can do, as though I am a product in the box. 

Book Series

These are the designs for the covers of a book series that I found when exploring AIGA Design Archives.

My idea based on this piece:

I would like to design a book series. I like how this series' design incorporates the image, juts changed a little each time. I would like to design a series in this same format.

Vintage French Poster

This is a vintage French poster I found while exploring The People's Graphic Design Archive.

My idea based on this piece:

I love vintage posters like these. Some that are ads, some are posters for plays. They are very beautiful. I read that most of them were made with a lithograph. I do not have access to a lithograph, but I would love to have a chance to design my own vintage inspired poster and print it using a lithograph.

Album Cover

This is an album cover I found while exploring The People's Graphic Design Archive.

My idea based on this piece:

I have designed ads for local magazines, brochures, music festival posters, and logos- but I have never design an album cover. I don't know anyone that is in band that needs an album cover, so if I were to design one I would probably redesign an already existing album. I think I would probably pick a jazz artist to design a cover for.
