                     1. I really enjoyed watching the advertising video Design Army made for Georgetown Optician. I                            think Design Army's video work are their strongest projects. The Georgetown Optician videos are very                     well done, and have even earned them an Emmy. I love the cinematic quality of the video, the warm                        colors, centered framing, and quirky voiceover cleverly mirrors that of Wes Anderson film.
                    2. Another film made by Design Army was a video made for the Hong Kong Ballet. It follows Hang                         Kong dancers in a different locations, such as a tennis court, a restaurants, a cargo ship, a city scape.                         The video is made up of beautiful bright colors, fun camera tricks, and a classical/hip hop mixed track.
                    3. Alice in Wonderland Photography and Design for the Washington Ballet. Design Army is based in                        DC so they collaborate a lot with the Washington ballet. For this project Design Army used                                        photography and design to create advertising for the Washington Ballet's Alice in Wonderland. Alice                      in Wonderland is one of my favorite books, and I love the colorful costumes, beautiful photography,                         and gorgeous typography of the project.

Process Journal Isabel Engel  19/1/21 Old Spice Deodorant This is my deodorant. I tend to use men's deodorant because I prefer musky scents than the floral scents that usually come with women's deodorant. Being a female using men's deodorant, I've noticed a lot about the design, especially regarding its focus towards men and being manly. First of all, Old Spice tends to use words and fonts that are traditionally associated with being a man, especially an old fashioned man. For example the label describes the scent as "swagger" or "confidence." These words are also in vintage or masculine looking fonts, while women's usually has very feminine typography, usually utilizing lots of cursive. The imagery on the Old Spice also is very reminiscent of an "old fashioned man." The lion in the background can be associated with courage or bravery. Old Spice uses these images and fonts, because they want the men that buy their deodorant to feel ma...

Project 0.1 21/1/21 Art From Videos and Websites that Inspired Me Sosolimited, Set Top Box This is a TV that is playing daytime television, while the subtitles are being processed, analyzed, and projected on the wall. My idea based on this piece: A TV is showing a muted soap opera, while the subtitles being projected on the wall are from cooking shows. That way it looks like the characters on the soap opera are arguing about cooking. Christopher Boyle, Identity Guidelines Boyle made this piece with the idea of "branding" himself, the same way a company might brand a product. My idea based on this piece: I want to make a prototype for the packaging of a product that is me. If you buy a product at a store that comes in a box, there is a picture of the product on the box and information about the product. I would get a box that is tall as I am and then design packaging that displays a picture of me and what I can do, as though I am a product in the box.  Book Series These are t...
